Cengiz Erol graduated in Business Administration from Ege University in Izmir in 1974 and completed a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting at the State University of New York (SUNY) in 1979. He continued with postgraduate study at SUNY, completing his Doctorate in International Trade and Finance in 1983. After working as an Assistant Professor of Finance at Çukurova University in Adana, Turkey from 1983 to 1985, he became an Associate Professor of Finance at Yarmouk University in Jordan from 1985 to 1990. He then worked in the Department of Business Administration at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, initially as Associate Professor from 1990 to 1993, then as Professor of Finance from 1993 to 2010. He was Consultant to the General Manager at Ereğli Iron and Steel Plant (1991-1994), Board Member at Ankara Insurance, Chairperson at Ankara Pension Fund (2000-2003), Advisor to the Board of Directors at İnterfarma Medical Suppliers (2002-2004), Board Member at İnterfarma Medical Suppliers (2004-2008) and Chair of the Department of Business Administration at METU (2008-2010). Cengiz Erol was also Vice President of METU and a member of the Executive Committee of the Student Assessment Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Cengiz Erol was the Head of the Department of International Trade and Finance at Izmir University of Economics from 2011 to 2013, as well as serving as a faculty member and Director of the Graduate School of Social Sciences at the same university between the years of 2010 to 2015. Cengiz Erol has been serving as a Board member of several Yaşar Group companies since March 2014.
